Studio policies

-First month’s tuition, a recital fee of $25 and a registration fee of $25 are due at the time of registration.

-All tuition payments are due on the 1st of the month via autopay (provided at registration). After the 5th there will be a $10 late payment per day until payment is made. After 2 consecutive month’s of non-payment, the parents of the student will be notified that they are not permitted to continue taking classes until a payment is made.

-Anyone that has not been previously authorized by the parents of the dancer(s) via the parent portal, is allowed to pick up a student or leave the premises with them. Each adult must be added to the student’s profile and show a valid ID upon pick up.

-ADU is not responsible for lost or stolen items and asks that each student use a cubby and all belongings correctly labeled.

-It’s studio policy that no one should post or distribute photo or video recordings if it includes other children within the contents without express consent from the parent or guardian.

-The studio operates under a Zero Bullying policy with a one-strike system. If bullying or hurtful actions occur, the individual will receive one verbal warning, subsequent behavior will result in the individual’s dismissal from the dance studio.

-Recital costume fees will be due in March (expected year-end recital will be held in May) and the balance must be paid in full in order to receive and pick up your dancer’s costumes. Costumes will include a pair of tights.

-Should there be an occasion where the studio is short-staffed and no one is sitting at the front desk, the front door will be locked at 10 minutes after the hour for safety reasons. Should you be running late, please call the studio prior so staff is aware. Also, should you need to get into the studio during class time and the door is locked, please call the studio at 512-584-8005.

Affinity Dance Company Policies

-All competitive dancers enrolled in ADC must take a ballet class in the age group and at minimum one other discipline of dance.

-Each company will have rehearsal times at minimum once per week outside of technique classes.

-As part of being a Company member, additional expenses should be expected to include but not limited to, competition/convention fees, hotel stays, Company warm up and class uniforms.

-Each dancer cannot miss more than 2 rehearsals in a month (pending extenuating circumstances). Depending on the situation, the student may be required to request a private lesson with the instructor in order to catch the dancer up on missed material at the expense of the customer.

-ADC dancers must keep their academic grades up adequately to parents’ expectations in order to remain an active competitive member.

-Each ADC committed family must adhere to all studio policies

-ADC dancers must wear appropriate attire, footwear, hair and makeup for all performances.

-There will be at least 1 performance quarterly by the competitive company that will include opportunities like local charity events, nursing homes, promotional events, competitions/conventions, and recital.

Payment Policies

- Payments are due on the 1st of every month. All families are required to have a credit or debit card on file for autopay. (Should it fall on non-business day, payment will be charged the following business day)

Each autopay, ACH or Credit transaction will be accompanied by a %2.75 service fee. (For example, if tuition is $75, your online payment will be charged as $77.06)

- Although having a card saved on file and opting in to autopay is required for enrollment, you do have the option to pay your balance in full prior to the 1st of the month with cash or check without incurring the %2.75 service fee.

- If payment is not received by the 5th, a $10 per day fee will be applied to your balance.

- 2 consecutive months of non-payment will result in student dismissal.

- Recital costume fees: 50% deposit is required in January and the full balance is due in March.

-  Company Costume fees: 50% deposit due in October, full balance is due by the end of the year.

-  Costume and registration fees are non-refundable.

-  Competition fees and Convention fees will be collected by ADU but include 0% markup. The fees charged are set by each competition or convention, with cost taken into consideration by the director upon selection of each event participation.

Dress Code

- Tights for all, no bare legs

- No dangling jewelry

- No street shoes in the studio

- Street clothes/shoes/belongings go in cubbies

- Dance shoes should never be worn outside

- Hair must be neatly pulled back out of the face. Hair bun is required for all ballet technique classes. Please no claw clips as they are a safety risk.

- Hip hop: may wear leggings, yoga pants, appropriate sweatpants, shorts and appropriate shirt over leotard, bra top, and/or sports bra, with sneakers

- Jazz/Contemporary/Modern: may wear leggings or tights (no bare legs) with leotard or appropriate fitted top so that dancers can move freely and comfortably.

- Ballet: leotards, pink tights, and ballet slippers

- All technique appropriate shoes must be worn in class

Class Etiquette

- No food/drink besides water

- No cell phones in studio

- Profanity, unsportsmanlike conduct, physical/verbal abuse are strictly prohibited with a zero-tolerance policy.

- Please do not touch or lean on mirrors.

- Please do not hang on the barres.

- Students should arrive inside the classroom during the 5-10 minutes window prior to class beginning, after the prior class has been dismissed, dressed and ready to start warming up.

Class Placement

ADU and its instructors will place students in classes based on ability. We feel it’s imperative for growth students be placed in the correct level class, rather than with their exact age group. We ask for your trust and support regarding our expertise in class placement. The class levels are as follows: Little Gems, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond.

Makeups/Refunds/Cancellation Policy

- Should a student be sick or unable to attend with an excused absence, they may make up that class in any age/level appropriate class within that calendar month.

- For cancelations due to inclement weather, the same makeup policy is allowed. This also applies for holiday and short weeks, as well.

  • Refund Policy: There are no refunds or credits that will be given for tuition, registration fee, recital tickets, costumes and any tuition-related fees.

  • Pro-rating: we do not prorate classes for existing students. No exceptions.

  • Cancellation: Due to low enrollment, a class may be combined with a different level or technique. In any event, ADU will go through every possible solution to ensure every student has an enjoyable and appropriate class to participate in.

Code of Conduct

- Every dancer/parent/sibling will need to be respectful of all students, staff and instructors.

- ADU will Not tolerate physical/verbal abuse, “name -calling,” bullying by any student. If a student disrupts the safety of other students in the class, they will be asked to leave without refund. Any intentional damage to or theft of the studio or student property will not be tolerated and result in the student’s dismissal from class without refund.

- While classes are conducted, no student or parent may enter the classroom without being invited in by the instructor. 

 

Performance Policy

- There will be a full dress rehearsal prior to recital. Schedule TBD and will receive hair/makeup/accessory instructions with costumes. Students are expected to remain there for the entire rehearsal time block. Tickers for recital will go on sale prior.

- There will also be full dress class and individual pictures during one week of class prior to recital.

-Dress rehearsals are mandatory in order to participate in recital performances.

Social Media Policy

-  Please do not post choreography in it’s entirety as it is the intellectual property of ADU.

-Additionally please be mindful of sharing other individuals and get express consent from parents to ensure a violation of privacy is not taking place.

No Solicitation Policy

- Solicitation of ADU students or staff is unethical and unprofessional and strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. We ask that no students or parents, past, present or future, attempt to solicit or recruit ADU students, parents or staff for other instruction related to dance.

Camps and Workshops Policy

- 50% due at the time of registration, full balance is due 24 hours prior to the first day of camp.

- Camps will run Monday through Friday, either half day or full day options.

-ADU will offer specialty workshops. Competitive Company members are encouraged to participate in all workshops offered.

-Workshop payment will be due in full the day of but you are encouraged to participate in the discount specials for registering for workshops early.
